Community Clean-up Drive: A Success Story

Last Saturday marked a significant milestone for our community as over 100 residents gathered for our quarterly clean-up drive. The turnout was exceptional, demonstrating the strong community spirit that makes LESSO Holo a special place to call home.

What We Accomplished

Starting at 8:00 AM, volunteers spread across all sectors of our neighborhood, armed with gloves, garbage bags, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship. By noon, we had collected:

  • Over 500 kg of general waste

  • 200 kg of recyclable materials

  • Cleared 15 drainage systems

  • Trimmed overgrown vegetation in common areas

Community Spirit in Action

What made this event truly special was seeing families working together. Children learned valuable lessons about environmental responsibility, while adults networked and strengthened community bonds. The Environment & Waste Management Committee provided refreshments and organized teams efficiently.

"I've lived here for 10 years, and this was one of the best community events I've attended. Seeing neighbors come together like this reminds me why I love this place."

— Sarah Mwangi, Resident

Next Steps

Building on this success, the committee has proposed the following initiatives:

  1. Monthly mini clean-up drives in different sectors

  2. Installation of additional waste segregation bins

  3. Partnership with local recycling companies

  4. Environmental education workshops for children

Thank You

A special thank you to our sponsors who provided cleaning supplies and refreshments, and to all volunteers who dedicated their Saturday morning to making our community better. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Mark your calendars for the next clean-up drive scheduled for May 4th. Let's keep this momentum going!
